Be My Cat: A Film for Anne (2015) – User Review

User Rating: 9

I’m glad I’ve watched this movie, ’cause it’s one of the best found footage movies, in my opinion. I have to say I’m not a big fan of the psychological horror genre, I’d rather prefer a supernatural one! That said, I can recognize a good found footage, genre apart. This is simply perfect on so many levels.

The immersion, filming reason and all these found footage details are satisfied completely. We have Adrian, a Romanian wannabe-director, with a creepy obsession for Anne Hathaway. And all the footage was actually a video for her so that she could be convinced by the protagonist to come to his hometown and act in his movie.

The movie starts with a description for us, from the person who edited the footage(that was taken by the police as evidence for some crimes). And this all makes sense in the found-footage logic. So that every editing detail is perfectly justified.

But what makes this movie so great, apart from the curious plot, is ADRIAN. This character is so intriguing and the acting is outstanding. Every laugh, every look, every movement by him tells us something about his psychology. And what’s interesting is also how his character is relating to the other characters in the movie(three girls, actresses). Because his creepy ways are often justified by the fact that he’s preparing¬†with the girls a movie about a stalker. So that we(and the girls) get confused and can’t tell if those creepy things said or done are coming from Adrien or from the character he wants to play with the girls. Never a moment of failure in the movie, so WORTH WATCHING for sure!
